Introduction and Methods
Introduction
Abortion a very big controversial issue at hand, but many people forget the importance in safety of abortion and how emergency contraception plays a part. About 88% of women who are treated for an abortion are less than 13 weeks pregnant. Of these women, 97% have no further complications prior. The 2.5% that do, can be treated for at a medical facility or abortion office. The 0.5% with more serious complications require additional surgery and/or hospitalization. Safety for abortion seems to be located where illegal abortion is common.
As for emergency contraception, including the brands Plan-B One Step and Next Choice One Dose, are up to 89% effective when taken within a 72 hour period, but are less effective as time passes. While there are many types of emergency contraception, none are 100% effective. Certain pills contain specific hormone antagonists that can make the pill more or less effective for chances of getting pregnant.
Methods
Methods used were SurveyMonkey taken by classmates to find out effectiveness of contraceptives and abortion.
Interview done on two people. One who has had an abortion and one who has taken an emergency contraceptive.

The introduction kind of states why the topic is important, but not completely so the statement of importance can improve. The intoeudction does not clearly identify a knowledge gap, so providing information of what is not known would make this stronger as well. It also does not state a research question, so it needs to include that.
ReplyDeleteThe methods section does not have different headings, it needs to include the different headings: Participants, Procedures, and Data Analysis. After making the separate headings, the methods section needs to include the information that goes with those headings.
Overall, the intro and methods sections have good information, they just do not include all of the information that is needed. After providing this information, I expect that these sections will be strong.
1. I think overall the whole paper made sense to me and it was clear on what it was talking about. I think the biggest thing you are missing from the paper is providing a gap in the knowledge in the abstract/intro section and a research question.
ReplyDelete2. The language you used is clear and there are no pattern errors. You have all the requirements needed for the paper except for the formatting of the title page. Everything else is formatted correctly.
3. For the abstract I would provide a clearer research question and expand more on the implications. For the introduction section I would provide a clearer gap in knowledge. The methods section of the paper does not need improvement. The results section of the paper is good, but it needs to provide an introduction before the chart is shown rather than after. The discussion section of the paper is good except t needs to expand further on implications. I think the survey questions that were used were good questions to provide sufficient data and I think the data is analyzed well in the paper.
Overall, I think you had a good paper but just need to expand more on a few things like a research question, gap in the knowledge, and implications.
